  1. Just wondering how many of you used CloneDVD I use it and like the fact that it burnd the DVD for you without having Nero or something else installed because I've had nothing but troubles trying to burn a DVD with Nero.

I use CloneDVD as the primary and DVD Shrink if I find one that CloneDVD does not like. AnyDVD as well.

  7. I primarily do movie-only backups and so use DVD Decrypter-DVD2ONE-Nero.

But the few times that I do a full movie backup I will use CloneDVD, since in my opinion it renders better quality when doing a full backup.

  8. I rip and shrink with DVDShrink and then burn the files with CloneDVD. I guess I could do it all with CloneDVD (and AnyDVD) but I find DVDShrink easier and I always can select the right files to backup.

Me too. Only use DVD Shrink when ripping to hard disk without decoding (too slow), or when I want to view the exact content of the disc and the memory allocated to each part (extras, menus, etc.). Also, used DVD Shrink on some unusual case in which the AnyDVD/CloneDVD combo couldn't open the DVD

Why not just use ClonDVd for everything? It rips, compresses and burns all in one. Is there any reason at all to use CloneDVD in conjunction with something else (except AnyDVD since they do different things)?

    Also, on a side note.

I use an old version of CLoneDVD where it walks you through about 4 screens and you can choose what to copy and what not to copy. It looks like on all the new versions of CloneDVD it's just one big screen with a GO button. Are the better options available in the newer versions and you have to access them somehow or what? Not sure why they'd remove all that great functionality.

I like being able to choose to NOT copy certain video segments and such so it doesn't have to compress everything as much.

As far as I know, the latest version of CloneDVD also offers the option of removing specific parts of the DVD. Indeed, it offers a lot more of just the GO! backup option.

I have found that the backups I make with Clone are not as reliable if I use it in conjunction with AnyDVD. I don't know the technicalities of it but I imagine that it has something to do with taking the encryption off on the fly as it resizes. I recently did a backup of the Chappelle Show, first using Clone with AnyDVD and a second backup using Clone w/ DVD Decryptor. Using the same media, I found that the first backup skipped in many parts while the second backup was flawless. I grant this may have a lot to do with the fact that I am doing all this on an older computer so I'm sure many of you do not have this problem.
