  1. I got a copy of DVDXCOPY, then loaded the drivers that it said I needed. Now, my DVD player and DVD-RW drive aren't reading either my DVD movie or my DVD-RW disc.

Before I installed it, I played the movie on my PC and it worked fine.

Now, when I pull up "My Computer"... it only lists my C: and D: drive!

To make things even more odd... when I run the DVDXCOPY program to locate needed drivers; it still saids that I am need of some. Did they NEVER load right? Strange...

What is going on? Any clues? Were the drivers bad???

    Thanks.

  2. Well, I went into "Disk Management" and it is showing, in my volumes:

    C:
    D:

But up top, it has a slot that is blank... NOTHING is listed. Just what did these drivers do? I'm not reading anything.

"Device Manager" shows a (!) next to my DVD and DVD-RW player and burner. When I right click on them and try and search for drivers... it saids: "The wizard could not find a better match for your hardware then the one you currently have installed?". So... it does read the drivers, correct?

    I'm confused.

  3. What are your writers?

What do you mean drivers? The ones you need are called gear drivers. Seems you might not have those or you have a too new writer.

  4. MATSHITA DVD-ROM SR-85883
    PIONEER DVD-RW DRV-104

I mean, "drivers" as in when I right click on either of these listed under "DVD/CD-ROM drives" it lists "update drivers" but when I run the wizard it comes back with that message telling me that it couldn't find a BETTER match for what I'm currently running, assuming that means that SOME sort of driver is installed. And if the drivers are registered, why is the device not coming up.

  5. I was on the phone with Sony for an hour and a half last night. uhh. They can't figure it out; so it's going into the shop.

I was doing an internet search last night and found out that other people have had the same problem. In the end, they had to reinstall Windows.

WARNING. to anybody that gets a copy of DVDXCOPY. There is a virus going around, either in the program or when it updates drivers.

I would like to extend that warning to the way DVDXCopy works...period.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. Xcopy comes with a program called GEAR DRIVERS

U must run that in order for it to see your drives. If you didn't get a legitimate copy you might not have got that.

Anyway, why don't you ask in the xcopy forums instead of here cause they know everything?

Why don't you contact 321 Studios?
I'm sure they can help you out.

  9. I posted here, so that I could follow up with my orginal comments.

Secondly, as I stated above... this is a COPY (*hint hint*). And I am warning people who are trying to download a copy that's going around; to be forwarned, I think there is a virus attached to it.

I am not 100% sure, but I am sure they didn't design the program to wipe out your DVD-ROM and DVD-RW.

If they did, and it's a selling feature... I apologize.
