I recently purchased a Go-Video R6530 DVD Recorder and have been recording TV shows off of TV on DVD+RW disks. I have been using DVDShrink (only thing I could find to work) to read the disks and then burn DVDs of them onto DVD+Rs using Roxio 6 for archival purposes just like I used to on videotape. I found that this however only works if you don't record more than 1 at a time on the DVD. DVDShrink doesn't recognize the disk if you record 2 programs on it even though it can be played by PowerDVD fine. Maybe it's some type of session thing.

I am interested in editing out the commercials but so far after an extensive search and trying out various programs I have not found an easy tool that will recognize the VOB file format. I looked at IFOedit but it seemed too complex. It seems like all the authoring tools are for MPEG. I downloaded the trial version of Ulead (glad I didn't buy it since it didn't work) and it didn't recognize the AC3-2 audio format that my Go-Video recorder recorded on the disk.

I would think that with all of the DVD standalone recorders being sold that there would be some tool out there since most likely people would want to edit out commercials.

If anyone can give me any assistance or point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.
