  2. I'm gonna pick up a spindle on tues. I'll let you know what media code this is. I have the 3 packs of these digital movie reel verbatims, and theyre MCC. I can burn em at 8x and have perfect read tests.

  3. I did buy a spindle yesterday at Best Buy and the media code is MCC 01RG20. I burnt them on my Pioneer 107D at 8x (with 1.10 hacked firmware) without any problems. So a enthusiastic THUMBS UP for this !!!

MCC's considered one of the best... maybe not absolute top (I'd consider that Taiyo Yuden and Maxell), but right up there. Definitely a good deal!

(The "gotcha" here is CMC is horrible, horrible media [in my experience!] so make sure you don't get them confused in your head since they're so similar... MCC = Mitsubishi Chemical Corp... CMC= [something] Magnetics Company, I think.)

  6. I just picked up 4 spindles .. I hope they all turn out to be MCC. However, the back of the label on the spindle says Mitsubishi Chemical so it feels a bit comforting that without openning it, it may appear to be MCC.

I only used TDK and MAXELL exclusively since the fiasco with my first burn way back with PRINCO and FUJI (RITEK), I figure it's not worth the hassle getting cheap media just to save a buck or two when I can get better quality media for my client's projects and my own of course!

I'll post what I find out about DVDinfo but worth the price and the film reel look is very cool for my projects!!!

  8. Do any of you have an opinion as to how these compare to Ritek Silver G04s? Are they worth 50% more. Locally with tax they come out to close to $1.20 and I can get TYs for $1.40 or so.
Still a few bugs in the system...

Just a small heads-up about these:

If you have an older non-4X drive (such as a Pioneer A04), you'll need to make sure you have the latest firmware before you try putting these in the drive... and also be aware that your drive will probably only burn them at 1X. I know the Pioneer will, anyway... They burn just fine (tried a few of them this weekend), but they only burn at 1X.

Ah, well, I've been looking for an excuse to buy that A07 anyway...

I can tell you this much....

My Pioneer came bundled with one jewel case. It burned as well as my Fuji TY's on that Pioneer. I'm looking forward to buying some and I'll find out how they burn on my Liteon.

What I'm waiting for is part #94816, 4x, hub printables. They are listed on their site here . This is if Maxell or TY don't come out with hub printables first.

I would rate these much higher than the Ritek's. In fact right next to the TY's and above the Maxells. Excellent discs.

In fact these and the TY 4x DVD-R are the only two 4x rated DVD-R that will burn on my NEC ND-2500A at 8x. And this is according to the specs from NEC. They too support 8x burning. I cannot even burn the MXL RG02 at 8x.

And it burns beautifully at both 4x and 8x. Some nice k-probe scans at cdfreaks if you really want to dig deeper.

    Cheers.
