hi everyone!
I got this DVD with 40 video clips that just look like crap when I try to use Nero Recode to shrink! So I decided to change them to halfD1 and make a simple menu. It`s really sad, since the original structure/menus is so cool, but okey! If it's for quality sake, let's do it.
question is:
what's the easiest way to change the videos to halfD1? I already got the DVD ripped, all the vob files and stuff are there. Next step?
thx!

You could try using the "Big 3" (DoItFast4U+) or DVDReMake. With Big3 - you'll have to edit the .avs files. With DVDReMake - it supports conversion to half D1 (Actually, I know it does with CCE, but assuming you don't have CCE - I'm not positive that it supports 1/2D1 with Rejig - but you can check)

thanks!! And about DVD Remake...is it easy to use? Sorry I`m kinda of a newbie...haven`t tested many tools yet! Is Remake an "one-click" tool ?
thanx -
DVDRebuilder is a one click tool. It's only a few weeks old but you might have some good luck

There's no reason you have to lose the original menu structure and features just to reauthor the assets in a lower resolution/bitrate. The menu's and the items you want to edit are going to be stored in the same titleset as your movie, but rarely in the same vob. Simply edit all but the first vob in the titleset and then run IFOUpdate. The DVD will operate as normal, just with your newly encoded assets. Just follow some of the full backup guides using the encoder of your choice. It covers all of this. Just add the appropriate resize line to give you the desired output resolution.
I use half D1 and even 1/4 D1 for extras all the time. All I do is change the AVS output setting in DoitFast4u and then process as normally.
Make sure you encode with a 4:3 aspect ratio though. 16:9 isn't supported at half-D1.
