Hi,
There are so many different software out there for video cature. Some use capture card (like Dazzle DVCII) and some use USB (like Dazzle DVCI). What's the difference. My goal is to convert my memorable 8mm tape to VCD. Is a capture card will provide me with a better quality than the one without? I also heard about the heating problem with DVCI, specifically I was told that the 'station' of the DVCI get heat up quite a bit after a while and the whole operation stalls.

Do not get any USB capture device they all have a 5 to 20 second delay before they start capturing. Stick with the PCI versions either a Dazzle II or Hauppauge PVR or the new one by Nvidia which has imputs and outputs and its only $149.
