  1. When i have just backed up a DVD using DVD shrink is there a program that will go thru the VOB files to make sure it has ripped it fine?

    just so i know it will be ok went burnt.

  2. I ususally just open the VOB files with WinDVD or PowerDVD. Both will open files from the hard drive and play them. I make sure the sound is ok and the menus work (if I kept them) and all the chapters work ok. Only takes a couple of minutes but can save some DVDs in the process.

  3. but isnt the DVD in your PC a lot more forgiving than your average home DVD?

  4. Well, you could try the following:

    1. Use ImgTool to create a DVD Image from the VOB files.
    2. Use Daemon Tools to mount the image to a virtual DVD drive
    3. Play the mounted image with your PC DVD software (which will treat the mounted image the same as a physical DVD)

    If you want to eliminate the PC altogether, I would think only a test burn to a RW could completely reassure you. I use the steps outlined above and have yet to have a problem with any opf the DVDs I have burnt afterwards. And both the apps are free.
