  1. Newbie here please bear with me
I've bought a new pc with Pent. 4 CPU 512MB RAM, 80G H/drive, Windows xp, dvd drive LG GSA-4081B.

I've downloaded DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, Nero 6,
I have followed the great guides on the site, but i'm having trouble.
Decrypting is no problem, but my PC crashes while i use DVDShrink and Nero6 while Analizing or burning my projects.
I have gone through all the forum subjects to see if anyone else has had this problem, but could not find anything. I'm at a loss, although I have read some problems with a program which is on my PC called, Via RAID could this be my problem?

  2. There are generally two reasons why your computer will crash:
    1. The processor is getting to hot and shuts down.
    2. Some software is trying to write to protected memory.

Look in the event log to see what caused the crash. Research any error codes or messages that you see there.

Open the case and make sure that the processor fan is not blocked by cables. Look to make sure that there is unobstructed air flow through the chassis.

If you are not using RAID then you may be able to uninstall the Via Raid program. If you believe that the Via RAID program is causing the problem get on Via's web site and query their Tech Support for help.

  3. It could be that you're running out of HDD spaces, and/or your hard drive is heavily fragmented.

  7. Sometimes these can be very difficult to isolate.

Things to check: Try your apps after each step.
    1. Turn off any virus protection software.
    2. If you are using ACPI disable it (usually in the BIOS).
    3. Turn off any unneeded services. Go to the www.blackviper.com and follow the recommendations there.
    4. Run AD_Aware to remove any spyware on the system.
    5. Use Norton Ghost the make a backup of your hard drive then,
UNINSTALL very program that was installed. Re-boot and re-install the programs that are giving you problems. See if they still crash.
    6. Restore your system from the GHOST image.
