  2. Did you find a list of improvements? It just says: speed improvement without any details.

  3. PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D
    Current Revision : 1.07
    Release Date : 03/09/08
Model : Pioneer or Generic 3rd party model
    Serial Number : CKDC082498WL

This firmware is already latest version.
This firmware does not need to be updated.

The checker says that my firmware is up to date, yet tells me I'm using 1.07. Shouldn't it tell me I should flash to 1.08?

Pioneer has officially stated that the new high speed DVD-RW format (2x-4x certified
disks) is not compatible with the 106/A06 (i.e. the writer cannot burn these disks
properly) and that a future firmware upgrade might solve the issue. Up to now, only the
    107/A07 can burn 2x-4x certified DVD-RW disks.

See the following URL if you don't believe me.

    http://www.pioneer-eur.com/files/pdf/dvdrw.pdf

Perhaps this is the upgrade that solves this problem.

By the way, only DVD-RW disks are concerned. The 106/A06 can burn the new
    DVD-R (1x-8x), DVD+R (1x-8x) and DVD+RW (2.4x-4x) disks without trouble.

Pioneer is not the only manufacturer concerned. Sony 510 writers are also unable to
burn the new DVD-RW (2x-4x) disks.

Ok, this weekend I burn some dvds, no problem at all, before update I was using optodisc dvds, some problems(freeze before mid movie) with my standalone player(samsung P233) using dvd+r or dvd-r, after the update I use some PRINCO dvd-r, which works perfect on my dvd player, BTW, before the update, even when the optodisc dvd's says that they was 4X certified, I couldn't burn up to 2.4X, after the update I burn at 4X.

For those of you that use your burner to rip, this upgrade increased rip speed to around 6x for me. That was on a single layer disc though. Haven't tried a DL yet.

  11. Enhanced cdrw? Does that mean faster or better, because there's nothing wrong or slow about it now.
