Did you find a list of improvements? It just says: speed improvement without any details.

PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D
Current Revision : 1.07
Release Date : 03/09/08
Model : Pioneer or Generic 3rd party model
Serial Number : CKDC082498WL
This firmware is already latest version.
This firmware does not need to be updated.
The checker says that my firmware is up to date, yet tells me I'm using 1.07. Shouldn't it tell me I should flash to 1.08? -

Perhaps this is the upgrade that solves this problem.
By the way, only DVD-RW disks are concerned. The 106/A06 can burn the new
DVD-R (1x-8x), DVD+R (1x-8x) and DVD+RW (2.4x-4x) disks without trouble.
Pioneer is not the only manufacturer concerned. Sony 510 writers are also unable to
burn the new DVD-RW (2x-4x) disks.

Enhanced cdrw? Does that mean faster or better, because there's nothing wrong or slow about it now.
