I bought a tv series on VCD. 39 of the 40 cds play without problem, but the other 1 cannot be read by my E drive. Then I took it to work, and it worked fine. What is the problem? Is that 1 unreadable cd too advanced for my CD ROM at home?
I have the HP 8290 CD Writer at home,
and I have the Samsung CD Rom SC-148C at work.
Can someone who knows different CD Roms tell me if what is the difference between the 2 and why the samsung one can read the cd while the HP one cannot?
thanks

probably has some amount of errors that your home cd rom cannot read, while the "better" cd rom at work can.

I know many people that've had problems with the 8000 series HP writers. Doesn't surprise me.

I can't believe it took me so long to think to try this, but last night on a whim I installed my old CDROM and tried out the CD, and it worked. So I copied the movie file to the harddrive, and I can burn it to another CDR with my CD writer, and hopefully that should solve whatever problem there was... I'll try that tonight. Didn't have time last nite.
A couple of other VCDs that my HP CDROM had troubles with (freezing), my old CDROm could play too. Man and I thought the HP was an upgrade over what I had...
