  1. I have the Lite-On DVDRW LDW-811S and when I burn a DVD (movie or data) on Nero it takes at least 45 mins @ 4 speed, I have read it should only take 15 mins, so obviously I want it sorting out.

Any ideas what it could be?

    Thanks in advance

  2. I've read that DMA has to be enabled on these drives so I have set it to DMA if available, but when I check the drive in Nero Info Tool it still says DMA off.

    What can I do?

  5. Using Choice DVD-R 4x

I've read that these drives have problems! But can be sorted!

It takes about 9 mins to make an audio cd @ 40x on nero, with memorex cd-r's.

  6. i'm thinking the problem is more in the media.

maybe you should try better quality media and see if it will burn at 4X.

If you are burning a full Audio CD at 40x, it should take under 5 mins

  9. I know it should be quicker.

I've read that it could be a DMA problem, I have set my IDE secondary setting to DMA if possible but it still says its running PIO mode, my IDE primary is set to DMS if possible, and that is running in DMA, can I change this?

    Cheers!

If you are having trouble getting it to set DMA mode, try different master/slave combinations and also try on a different IDE port.

To save repeating myself checkout last post on this thread. I know this has worked for at least to other people.

  16. Choice DVD-R 4x ?

Never heard of it. On left column, dvd writers or media, people write what media they use with what writers.

"Nero it takes at least 45 mins @ 4 speed"

45 minutes =2x which is probably all you can do with that media.

Don't waste your breath, he doesn't try anything suggested.

  18. I have tried everything you have all suggested except for the media, which I will check when I get to the shops. I thought the fact that Memorex cd-r's are taking 10 mins to do an audio cd on nero might mean its the drive.

Thanks for the help so far. Sorry if I have sounded off but it is getting me down now.

  19. A big thanks to all of you for trying to help me. You got me looking in the right area.

It was the DMA, but couldn't be solved in the way you mentioned, the problem was with the setting on my motherboard, it was a setting in the(CMOS) OnChip IDE Function, which I had to acces at start-up.

Working properly now, only takes 15mins as you all said.

    Cheers!
