I dont know if anyone really cares, but I thought I would post some results of some rebates I have requested and whcih ones have arrived and those that havent.
Circuit City- recvd in 3 weeks for a $70.00 rebate on an lcd monitor
Best Buy- still nothing on $15.00 for a Linksys router- 8 weeks
Office max- email saying my $40.00 approved on dvd writer 3wks
JVC- Still nothing on $15.00 for a dvd player, 3 months
Still have various others out but too soon to report on, mostly from OM. Seems Circuit city was pretty darn fast. My dvd writer i got an email saying it was going thru, yet the 100 mystery brand dvd +r i got like a week earlier I have heard nothing on. same with the jewel cases and 100 no name cd's from OM. We'll see, but JVC & best Buy can blow me. MO can gimme a hand job as they at least emailed me, and circuit city ...well I guess I'll have to do them as they were shockingly quick.

i NEVER buy things whose selling power is Mail-In-Rebates...
but i am currently waiting on two (2) for my first ever purchase with MIRs
I got everything in on time, even photocopied everything, so I am ready to raise hell if I don't get my money -
To my surprise I received my $50.00 rebate from CompUSA in 3 weeks. It was for a price match they did on a Maxtor 120 gb internal hard drive. That is the fastest mail in rebate I have ever received. I'm still waiting for my Adaptec $20.00 rebate it's going on 3 months now.

Yes I got a check for $50.00. All the rebates are checks.

This is a good thread, Jaxx. Keeping an eye on who honors their rebates and who doesn't could help a lot of people here.

Rebates are for one purpse alone is that many ppl never mail it out and companies save money. -
Yea, I was shocked I got the Circiut City rb so quickly. Surprised by the JVC rebate though, over 3 months now and they even called me to let me know its approved but still nothing. The Off max are a bit funky in that some awards come from one area and the others come form another.
As far as not getting them, I really dont buy anything because it has a rebate, but if im going to buy it anyway, may as well get one with a rebate. -
Got the Indian Jones trilogy for Christmas from the wife (bought at Best Buy)... came with a $20 'rebate' attached to it. I sent it in the last week of December and about 2 weeks ago, I got the rebate... it was a $20 Gift Card for Best Buy....
... nice how they get your money one way or another! I would have preffered the check so I can choose where to spend my money....
a few years ago, I did the Circuit City thing with buying my cable modem... At the time, it was $200 for cable modems, they had a $100 CC rebate, a $100 Comcast rebate, and a free install kit.
Both rebates came back in less than 4 weeks, as I recall...
I've never had a rebate not come back.... -
Update: Got my rebate check from JVC today. Sent it in the day after thanksgiving. Do the math!

You have to check up on your rebates, before the 2003 Christmas Season the FTC finned 300 companies for failure to honor rebates and for disqualifying people from rebates based on shoddy information. IE
Someone mails a rebate but omits there e-mail, it doesn't say "required" anywhere about the e-mail but they are rejected from the rebate.
The story is in Time. -
Today, I just purchased an old 2002 computer software and I am trying to claim a $20.00 rebate even though as overdue by 14 months.
No harm in trying with a letter of re-consider to make sure they don't reject me.
The only cost is a postage stamp ans I keep my fingers crossed for the check.
Anyway, I got two rebates before Xmas last year and this helps.I am a computer and movie addict -
Got my rebate from ADAPTEC finally.....odd thing is I emailed their tech support site because they had no rebate link on their website....I got a email back last week and it said geez from Dec. 2003 pls check the www.rebatesareus.com or some site like that I can't remember it....so I checked it and it said mailed out in Dec. 2003...LMao maybe I did get it and forgot or something...Anyway today I received a rebate for $20.00 on the check it says for a 4 port usb....ummm I didn't purchase a 4 port usb...I purchased a firewire pci card.... I already have 2 usb in the front and 2 in the back of my Antec case....Well anyways I got the rebate even if it wasn't for the correct product....I'm sure they must have checked the status of the rebate and realized I never got it....Took over 3 months to get it but at least I got the darn thing....
