  1. hey,
a few days ago i bought NEC ND2500A and burnt with percisa x4, but it failed.
i suggested that the medias sucks.
    so, what about VDSPMSAB DVD-R 4.7GB X4 (unbranded) ?
are they suitable for the NEC ?

Here is a link to the cdfreaks review of this drive (the link is to the media compatibility tests).

From my own perspective, I have owned 3 DVD burners and currently use a Sony 4X and a Plextor 708A 8X. I've used Verbatim, Fugi, TDK, and recently Maxell with zero problems on either drive. Other people hear swear by Ritek. With 4X going for $1 each (perhaps a little more) I tend to stick with name brand. I've never heard anything but good reviews (here and on sites like CDFreaks) on Verbatim or anything that's re-branded Taiyo Yuden.

This site claims their version of the "brand" has been tested at 4X on the 2500. Of course, they sell them.

If you do a google on VDSPMSAB you find a mixed bag of comments. The media forum here only shows one comment so it doesn't appear many people have any experience with them. I'd feel more comfortable if they would identify themselves so I know where to find them when I needed more.

All I can say is to do what almost everyone else on this forum has done. Try a spindle and see if they are suitable for BOTH your recorder and your home players. Very few use unbranded discs.

  5. I have the 2500A with the RPC1 and rip speed unlock firmware: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1740. I use Ritek G04's with great results, you can find this media for less than $1 apiece.

Yeah, but the media you mentioned might not exist in the US either. Try the suggestions offered by the people above ie to buy several pieces of media to see if they are compatable with your drive.
Personally, myself, I prefer to either stick to branded disks such as Verbatim, Maxwell, Fuji etc or to disks widely used and recommended.
