  1. I have tried this with lots of different Divx files, if I join them together and convert to MPEG2 (Using MainConcept MPEG Encoder) the 2nd part of the MPEG always suffers from Audio sync problem, the 1st part is fine.

I've followed a few guides but this always happens, what am I doing wrong??

    TIA,

    Witchy.

Try joining the clips with AVISynth and add a delay for the second clip.

Or....don't join the clips. Create your seperate mpegs and then let the authoring process take care of it.

Do you mean I should have the 2 seperate mpegs on the DVD then set the DVD authoring software to allow the 2nd part to play automatically as soon as the 1st part finishes?

I can't speak for what Zippy meant, although I suspect he meant just that. That method would have the least possibillity of audio sync issues.

For instance, in TDA(tmpgenc dvdauthor) if you simply add the clips in succession in the same track, the audio should be fine. There would be a momentary transition on the dvd when going from one clip to next, and the transitions would act like chapter points, but those are very minor issues in comparison to out-of-sync audio.

  6. It's possible that one or more of the files have an audio offset, meaning let's say it has the audio start .5 seconds after the video. You're probably losing that information when you're joining it, so instead of the delay you're getting it straight in there and well, you obviously see the result.

Is it delayed or ahead of the video? Is there a noticeable break in the video?

It's manual, but you could probably combine the two files before encoding them, extract the audio, then at the point of impact edit the audio so it'll be in sync. For instance, if you notice there's a slight pause in audio yet the video is supposed to keep going, take out the audio pause.

edit after seeing the below..: I would also try to make sure you have each video running with pure wav files and both perfectly in sync before you join them. VBR makes me want to tear my skin off, but if you start out with simple wavs that work on their own (any necessary delays thrown into the actual wav file) chances are the video is going to work too.

  7. How are you joining them and what kind of audio do they have (ac3, vbr, etc.).

In this case you can speak for me!
