  1. I recently had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall all my software. I use "RecordNow DX' to burn dvd's. Since I've reinstalled it, the dvd's I've made will play in my computer but not in my dvd Player. I'm using the same media as always, Imagine & Sony. I keep getting a disc error while the disc is loading. I've Burned about 20 dvd's before now and I'm not doing anything differently. Can anyone help?

  2. If you are using a Panasonic player never turn on the player with the tray open button. Always use the power button. I sound nuts but it is true for me and true for the guy that sits next to me at work. I could not believe it myself as all of a sudden disks would not read worth a damn in my player. After a few months of bumming out I decided the failure started when I found that I started using a short cut to turn on the player. Since I started using the power switch again it is very reliable.

My model is RV-31. His was another model. Another geek here has a newer model and does not have this problem as his player does the full boot up sequence whether he uses the power button or the tray open button.

  3. I don't think that's the problem, all disc made before now play fine. My player is toshiba sd-2900 & Burner is Sony DRU-510A. Should I have It replaced?

  4. Could be the laser on the standalone needs cleaning or ..... have you started a new batch of media ...maybe a bad batch or a dye change that your standalone doesnt like.

  5. If It was the laser, wouldn't it affect play for all disc? I've made 5 dvd's since I reinstalled & those are the only ones that won't play in my player. I have tried several settings in recordnow, nothing works.

Try another burning method. Create an ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter. If you can get your backup to play on your standalone, then it's gotta be RecordNow DX. I gave up on RecordNow because it makes "data" DVDs. My Sony doesn't like this type and I found that out the hard way after a few coasters.

  7. Yes it would affect all disks, but that wasn't what you said in your original post

I would look closer at your media and/or the possibility of a dirty laser on your burner also.

  8. What do I need to clean the laser in burner/player & where would I get it?
