  1. I use DVD shrink (does DVD Shrink bypass the cpoy protection ???) and NERO 6 to burn DVD's on my NEC1300. The DVD plays fine on my standalone DVD player (Kiss DP450)

I read on this site about dvdxcopy, clonedvd and dvdencrypter. Do I need all of those ? Why is everybody using these packages if DVDShrink and NERO does the job ???

    Thanks !

Some people don't have the money to try all of them, and some feel one is better than the other.
I've tried DVDOne but have settled with DVD Shrink.
It's all down to personal choice really, although I don't use Nero, I don't like it; it's RecordNowMax for me, always has been.

Yes, it does bypass copy protection, that's why you can play it on your standalone.
It has something most transcoders (correct?) don't, a built in ripper.

They are all alternative ways of doing the same thing. DVD X Copy and CloneDVD are all in one packages (sorry, X Copy isn't any more ) that are"one-click" solutions.

If you are going great guns with Shrink and Nero, stick to that. The only suggestion I will make is to perhaps familiarise yourself with either DVD Decrypter and/or Smartripper. There will be times when DVD Shrink won't be able to Open Disc - in this case you need to rip it to your HD with one of these.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yep, good point, I forgot to mention I always using DVDDecrypter before using Shrink, it's just my way, and like we say...
....if it works for you - don't mess with it

  6. Last week I was a newby, still am I guess, received my 100 pak of Ritek GO4 DVD-R yesterday about noon. Wasted 1 hour and one disc using Super DVD Copy, then made eight perfect copies using DVD Shrink in a bit over 7 hours. When both standard and wide screen versions are on the disc is there a way to tell which is which. There doesnt seem to be a standard,as I copied one with 2nd , and one with 1st and got wide screen version each time..
