  1. I have a couple different Pioneer drives on three different computers. I have used these burners a lot. I have burned at least 200 DVD's on each burner. I have always used TDK media with no problems.
What I am noticing is that my DVD's I have been burning Lately have had little freezes at different points of the DVD. I have reburned the DVD's with the freezes(which only last a second), and the remade DVD does not have the freeze at that point, but maybe at some other point.

I have never had the burner stop during the burn process with errors. I am using Tmpgenc DVD author to burn my video Ts folder.

Does anyone know what the symptoms are for a burner that is dying? And how many DVD's did it take to happen.

    Thanks,
    Vizcaya

Clean your burner too. IPA (alcohol) with a Q-TIP (cotton swab). Do not use a "cleaner" from the store.

  3. Yes, cleaning is a good idea. My guess is media, it is possible to have a bad one or two every once in awhile. I've had two writers die, laser, and if you use nero you will start to get calibration error messages.
If it works, don't fix it.
