I have just noticed that I can't delete the web addresses in my address bar. When I pull down the address bar dropdown button no addresses are shown, but when I type in an address some begin to appear at www.? I have cleared the histroy, cleared the autocomplete, I am also running historykill, and nothing is working....I've never had this problem up to 3 days ago? Any ideas what's wrong or how to fix?

  3. I had the same problem with addresses still remaining.

Try using System & Internet Washer Pro that can be found on that page. It solved the problem for me.

go to tools->internet options. under temp files, click delete files. make sure you check the box to delete all offline content. keep in mind that any bookmarks you have will always show up in the address bar unless you delete the bookmark

You don't need to edit the registry. The clear the addresses in the address bar is go into Internet Explorer's "Tools" pulldown then to "Internet options", then into the "General tab" and find "History": Click on button, "Clear History".

The memory of addresess in the address bar as gone.

That doesnt always work with IE. I remember when I had IE5 and 5.5 that it would happen ALL the time. I would clear history, delete temp files, and the whole list of things and it would still be there. I had to delete all the contents of the temp. int. files in DOS to finally kill it. It hasnt happened again so far in IE6(whatever big was there I guess got fixed). And many times, even though you clean your cache, IE still stores a list of all the sites you go to in the "Index.dat" file in that folder. You cant delete it in windows because its always open, it has to be killed in DOS. The index.dat file starts at 16kb and grows and grows. Mine right now is at like 2-3MB.

For absolute privacy every few months I just run a little batch file I made with a little command
    deltree /y c:\windows\tempor~1\*.*
And it clears ALL that stuff out.

  8. When using TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS, etc -- be sure to set "days to keep pages in history" to "0" then clear history. You can then reset it to whatever you'd like.
