HELP!!!!!!!! I think I Have Killed My Pioneer

I have just tried to upgrade my Pioneer 107D firmware to R7100107.110 using DVDFlash. They tell me DVDFlash can't damage the writer?? Well, I have news for you. I think mine is dead and I have only had it 2 days............

I am using Windows 98SE and have been struggling to figure out how to flash this drive, the instructions on all sites I have looked at are so badly written and do not work when tied....I wwas getting a Pioneer "disclaimer" come up asking if I agree. After entering Y for "Yes", I get a message

"// sptxOpen.CreateFile: x2 (2) The system cannot find the file specified. Could not open device \\.\E

I have tried several times, same thing comes up. Eventually a site suggested that this was because it could not identify my drive and to do the following:

1/ Make sure you have all the files here plus the firmware file(s) in a
directory available from DOS

2/ Boot your computer with a DOS bootdisk (eg. DOS/Win9x/WinMe)

3/ Go to the directory where you copied all the files and type the command:

ADDDEV ASPI.SYS (yes, 3 D's in ADDDEV)

This will load the ASPI driver that is required to access your DVR drive

4/ After loading, the drive will tell you how many CD-ROM drives it found
The first device will be 0.0.0, the second 1.0.0, etc.

5/ To identify the proper device, try the commands below for the number of
CD-ROM drives that were detected

DVRFLASH -v 0.0.0
DVRFLASH -v 1.0.0
...

Once the DVR drive has been recognised, remember the x.y.z value

6/ Now that you have found your device, you can enter the command:

DVRFLASH -vf 0.0.0 R5100004.133 R5100104.133

After waiting about 30 seconds whilst the drive kernel was being updated, DVRFlash crashed. Now my Pioneer will not eject, the light will not come on....it is dead!!!!! Please can anyone tell me how to fix this? The firmware now reads as 0000. Please help, desperate!!

It may be too late to say this, but for anyone who's considering flashing a drive, if you have any questions or are unsure about the process, ask here! There are plenty of people who've done it before and would be happy to help.

As far as you drive goes, maybe it was "defective", and needs to be returned. After all, isn't it true that it worked, then one day it stopped? Things do fail from time to time....
