  1. All right. I'm currently working with AniVCD's release of Family Guy. All the .mpgs are encoded at the correct resolution (352/240). However, after burning, a little bit from the top, bottom, left and right side of each frame is cut off. For example, the opening credits show "irected by:" While this is good for a laugh, it's obviously a little disconcerning.

I re-encoded the .mpg using TMPGEnc and following all the settings listed in the CONVERT section of http://www.vcdhelp.com and I noticed that the mpg came back with little black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. This completely fixed my horizontal picture loss, and lessened the vertical loss, but there was still some cropping on the left and right sides.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? I cannot tell if the aspect ratio is screwed up because it would only be off by a really small margin. Nothing really looks squished. Any ideas?

  2. i think this happens because you can never see the whole of your tv screen, ive noticed this when capturing from satellite to my computer... when it runs in a window on the pc, theres alot more visable than there is on the tv at the same time. remember if you have a 21" tv, only about 20" of it is actually visible. also when i use vegas video to edit my home movies, there is actually an overlay option which allows you to see what will actually be displayed on the screen, and what will be cropped. i'm not sure how you would work round this, maybe by adding some black bars and a resize with vdub and some filters.
