  1. hi folks

i have a sony ip5 that supposedly captures in mpeg2

when i run the camera into movieshaker (sonys only way to get the video of the camera w/o using a capture card) and then save it as mpeg2 onto my hdd were okay
what i would like to do at this point is put a couple of them onto a dvd-r or dvd+r disk that will play (preferably) in my sony dvd or apex dvd players
what happens tho is when i drag them into nero (ver6) and burn them as data disk my sony says no disk and my apex dosent say anything
when i drop this into my computers dvd drive i can play the files just fine

    thanks in advance

**now i can burn these files 1 of 2 ways onto a cd either as data w/ nero or let nero encode it (both ways work on my apex dvd player)**

    also another question - when should i use a +r and when should i use a -r
i thought that -r's were for movies and +r's were for data (but this was like 3 years ago when i thought that ... and now that i finally have a burner i just dont know so i thought i would ask the experts)

  2. edit

it seems that there is also a speed issue between the +r and -r
from what i understand the +r's seem to have better speed results

  3. Thats not how you make video dvds for dvd players.

The best thing I could tell you to do is to read some of the "how to" guides on this site.

If your new I would just recommend using nerovision, insert the clips, make fancy menus and let it burn them to a dvd.

-r and +r are both for video and data. Although alot of players only play dvd-r, most newer dvd players play both.

Im kinda new to this too.....

  4. im guessing the apex makes some type of media judgement when its inserted and it will play the mpg's right off the disk

i guess for dvds its required to but in the VIDEO_TS AUDIO_TS format
