I remember when Walmart started selling Jurassic Park a day early and was sued by I think K-mart.

On Saturday I almost bought the new special edition of Ransom, which doesn't officially go on sale until tomarrow.

I bought Igby Goes Down a week before it was "released" on DVD at another local Walmart.

Is this how Walmart intends to overtake all retail stores, by breaking the law?

  4. That's exactly what it is. I used to work at Sainsbury's, and the laziness of some of the staff was incredible. So were some of the other things that went on, but I won't go into that.

  8. Ever notice how Walmart has 78 registers at check-out and never more than 5 cashiers?
If it works, don't fix it.

5? My Walmart never has more than 2. And one is for 10 items or less.

  10. How busy is the Walmart when they only have two cashiers? I remember a couple of summers ago I used to work from 7AM, and I was the only cashier available in the entire store. Between 7 and 8 I was so bored, I remember trying to trace barcodes to see if they'd scan.

I remember, in the twenty or so shifts I did like that, between those hours I only ever had one gentleman to help.

Talking of Sainsbury's, I think I'll need to go back there in the summer to raise some cash for my next year of uni. I left there to work at a pub/conference centre and I wound up hating the days when we had weddings on, so I used to enjoy working 9/10AM through till 2/3AM non-stop in the summer heat. I did this for £5 per hour. Totally illegal, and management were scum. I left there, and now I have no job to go back to once this semester is out.

At least Sainsbury's offers good, stable hours. Even if that means putting up with management who treat you like a child and customers who treat you like a piece of filth.

Never mind, eh. I'll be the one laughing last when I've got myself my degree, a Merc, a nice house and a Swedish girlfriend...
