VCD video format is actually a valid DVD format 352x288 (PAL) or 352x240 (NTSC).
VCD sound is not valid as it is 44Khz. All you have to do is convert to 48Khz to make it valid for DVD.

So if i convert vcd format with a 48khz audio i can burn 470 minute mpeg into a dvd??
ie the dvd contain 4.70Gb of vcd data.
Does the player reconigze this disc as VCD?? and play it as a VCD? -

The DVD creation time from DVD-lab was quick as no conversion of formats was necessary. The finished DVD had apporximately 1.5GB of data. So yes I could have put two movies and set up a menu on it if I had wanted to.
I have a Pioneer 563 player which is very picky on SVCD/DVD's and had no problem playing the new DVD. -
480x480 is not a valid DVD resolution. You're just plain lucky that your player can play this kind of "DVD". Don't bet too much on that your next player will be as forgiving...
To get better compatibility, run your SVCD format material thru svcd2dvdmpg before authoring as DVD.
