  1. I have a 120 GB hard drive. When I first installed XP I left 20 GB for Linux, and then I installed Linux on it. Well I now have a seperate Linux machine running, so want to reformat the 20 GB's so I can use them again. Is there a way to do this without having to reformat everything?

Thanks in advance for any help

In Windows, use the Disk Management feature of the Computer Management console and delete the Linux partition. Create a fresh Windows FAT32 or NTFS partition and format it.

Grab yourself the Windows ME bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com and boot up the computer, run FDISK /mbr and reboot the computer.

Poof, Linux SHOULD be gone and everything back to normal.

(I THINK -- It's been awhile. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

  5. Ok now I have another problem. I managed to reformat the other part of the hard drive, but its not a logical drive. That doesnt bother me. But when I used to boot up I was brought to a screen that asked if I wanted to boot Windows or Linux. And the screen is still there, and if I dont select anything it will go to Linux where it trys to load and fails, I have to hold in the power button to restart it. This is a huge pain in the ass...so anyone have any idea how to get that off?

Thanks in advance for any help.

fdisk /mbr from the Windows ME bootdisk didn't remove lilo/grub (the screen asking which OS to boot too)? Perhaps run just fdisk and reset the active partition.
