  1. this seems to be a pesky one! dvd decrypter 3.2 has an error when it does its thing & dvd shrink 3.1 also has an error. has anyone managed to backup 'the sixth sense'? How? I've done 6 other backups without problems.

A lot of times such errors aren't because of the super secret disc technology that prevents ripping.

Usually it's much simpler than that!

The problem is that most likey there is a physical problem with the disc. This could be as simple as smudges and dirt etc. or more complex such as scratches.

Try cleaning the DVD as best you can try DVD Decrypter again. If you still get errors try SmartRipper. If you still get errors look for any scratches.

Now I have never tried this myself but some have reported that cleaning the disc with toothpaste can help "fill" in the scratches and make the disc readable again. So as a last resort that is an option.

If you can't get it to work ... well you did buy it ... so return if you can (assuming you bought it recently and have the reciept) otherwise try to find a friend with the same movie and borrow it or rent it from a video store. Not really illegal since you do own it even though your copy is unreadable ... at least by a ripper (it may play fine on a DVD player).

Sometimes the errors can be that the dvd device cant read the dvd very good, sometimes a different dvd-rom/burner can do the job.
