  1. I'm looking for views on the LG GSA-4081B
which atleast has a promised 8x DVD+R burning speed.

I noticed the model LG GSA-4040B got a lot of
slack from cdfreaks.com review and so forth, so
I would love to know if I'm better of purchasing
the new faster model 4081B ? (the price difference
is not big between the two..)

My current cd-writer is an LG which...not a test winner
of any kind has done one bad disc (TDK 74 minute discs + LG =
rubbish on my pc) in it's year of existance
so I'm not that concerned over poor review (besides I mainly
use Verbatim mediums and would use those DVD-+R's so...).

  2. i own the 4081. i bought it because i heard all the same stuff about it you did. its either the biggest piece of junk or nobody is posting or replying the same issues im having. nero 6 recognizes that the drive can burn to the formats its supposed to but i cant get nero to burn to anything but "cd". i used "copytodvd" to burn dvd +r, and it was fine and quicker than i thought. it seems i need a driver to run it properly, anyways im lost. if youve heard anything that sounds like the answer to my problem please post or reply. thanks

There's nothing wrong with the LG 4040b, look through the DVD Writer Comments, most people are happy with that model, as am I.

Tom's Hardware gave it a good review, and I questioned CDFreaks review!.

  4. Does the retail 4081 come with B's Recorder Gold? If so, how does that program work with the drive?

  5. The 4081B does come with the B's Gold recorder5 software. It gave me the BSOD. I was told by LG that it will not work if you also use Nero. I have Nero 6. Something to do with IRQ. I don't know if that has anything to do with my issues. But that is what the company said.
    My rig is as follows:
    Athlon XP2000+, EPOX EP-8K5A2+, 512MB DDR PC2100, 200GB HD, Sapphire Radeon 9600se 128MB, Plextor 24/10/40 CD-RW, LG GSA-4081B DVD+RW
