This is truly a newbie question but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I have just converted a DivX file to fit on a DVDr but I can't help but wonder if I could've fit 2 or perhaps even 3 movies on that one dvd without losing picture quality. If the files are so small in .avi format why can't i fit more than one movie per DVD? How much better can you get the quality of the movie if it's 576x320 130kbps 25fps, does the quality increase at all if you in have a higher video bitrate or can you realistically fit 2 divx on one dvd and not lose any picture quality? someone please answer these questions.

well you can fit 2 movies on one dvd-r depending on the length of the movie and the bitrate that you use to encode the avi to mpg2.
the quality of the movie really depends on the source though. If the avi you are converting is crap, then converting at high bitrates isn't really going to help. -
so it's more dependent on the quality of the DivX picture not on the physical attributes of the file. So if I have a crappy Divx file that is 800mb there's no point increasing the bitrate. How do I know when a movie will lose PQ though? Divx movies are 520x320 what happens when they're converted to dvd (dvds are supposed to be 720x480) can you make the resolution that good?
