  1. hi..i have just installed NEC ND-2500 8x DVD +/- R/RW
    along with my existing sony cdrw crx210 e
    and taken out my toshiba dvd rom

    sony cdrw crx210 e is my master slave.

    would it in anyway cause a problem to copy dvdr movies or vcd movies in any way?

    was this a right move or should i have kept my dvd rom
    and taken out my cd writer

    thank you

  2. I have a cdrw and a dvdr installed and never had a problem with my setup. I did put the two drives on separate ide channels.

    Is there a reason why you can't have all three + your HD ?

    I have two hard drives, DVDRW, CDRW and a DVD ROM and I chose to keep the DVDRW and the DVD ROM because:
    a) the DVD ROM will rip quicker than the DVDRW;
    b) the DVDRW will still burn CDs in about 6 mins.

    This suited my usage patterns.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    I would keep the DVD ROM, because as stated, it usually rips faster. If you have the room in the case and a sufficient power supply, you can run them all. I use a Promise PCI IDE controller for an extra IDE backup drive, and a zip drive. If you need another controller card, just make sure it is compatible with the slower CD and DVD drives if you plan to run them on it.
