Backing up a DVDXCopy backup

A friend lent me a dvd backup made with dvdxcopy platinum.
I tried to copy this (its only on a simple dvd-r) but I keep getting errors! The disk plays fine but will not copy. Ive tried with DVDDecrypter, simple file copy through windows, nero, recordnowmax and even using dvdshrink, but nothing will copy it!

Is there any way around disk made with this awful program?

I've read that all DVD backup products by 321 Studios places some small code info on each back-up, not allowing a backup to be made from a backup. Only option is to backup from the original or use DVD Shrink or CloneDVD. Those never gave me probems backuping up the backups.
