In DVDShrink, what is the use of Re-Authoring a DVD??? Just a curious question... I know that it is for JUST ripping the DVD movie itself without any of the extras, menus, etc.

But it seems that it puts them into TS Audio & Video files, but will I have any problems backing it back to a blank DVD+R using DVD Decryptor??? how would I do this (I am assuming that it is not the same process as when you are doing a Full Disc Backup)???

    Thanks again

  2. If you have a DVD9, you retain max quality reauthoring main movie only. You can make an ISO image of the shrunken files with IMGTools and burn with DVDDecrypter. Or use AUTOShrinkISO from the beginning to automate the process.

Main advantage I can see is it's hard to screw it up. Plus small efficient progs are involved without a lot of proprietary bloatware. (Yeah, I'm thinking Pinnacle especially, I've got most of their stuff and it's okay). Personal preference, do what works for you.

How about Deep Analysation using DVDShrink... does this work well??? I've tried it with Aliens and the Sopranos DVDs doind a Full Disc Backup and even though not perfect, still SEEMS to look much better than without doing that... it does take a bit longer - around 35-45 mins longer, but worth it.

What do the rest of you think about this??? Is it better to RE-Auth or Deep Analysation???

    Gracias

Deep Analysis is a wonderful thing. I think its absolutely necessary for compression less than 85-90%. It's well worth the extra time it takes, especially when doing a Full Disc backup.
