  1. I hope this is the right forum to post this but here goes. I have a Hi-8 tape that I am trying to capture on my computer. I am using my Sony TRV-33(DV) to capture the tape from my TRV-16 camera(Hi-8). I'm kind of confused on what cable to use in order to get the video and audio. On the TRV-16 camera there is a video out port (yellow) and an audio out port (black). First I tried the cable that came with my DV camera trv-33. On one end of this cable are three ends which are yellow (video), red (audio) and white (audio). On the other end is just one port that goes into the TRV-33. Since there are only 2 ports on the TRV-16 i can only plug in the yello end for video and then i can only plug in either the white or the red but when i do this it only plays through one speaker. My question is, What cable do I need in order to plug my TRV-16 inot my TRV-33 and have the sound come out of both speakers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

From what I am reading, the TRV-16 is mono and the TRV-33 is stereo. Therefore, the TRV-33 is looking for both a left and right audio signal, and you are supplying only a mono signal.

What you need is a mono audio/video cable, and Y cable or splitter. Plug the yellow plug into the video output of your TRV-16 and the Black (or white) plug into the audio output of your TRV-16. The Splitter you get should be used only on the audio output. It should have a single input jack, and a dual plug on the other end. Plug the single plug from the TRV-16 into the jack on the splitter. Plug each individual plug from the splitter into a jack on the audio input of your TRV-33 and although not stereo, you should have output from both speakers.
