I'm currently in the process of filming and editing a skateboarding video with a few friends. I'm fairly new to video editing and have limited but enough resources to make this video, although I'm having trouble with a few different techniques. If any of you have ever seen any recent skateboarding videos, you'll notice that most of the skating done in the video is synchronised with the soundtrack. By this I mean, for example, when a skater lands a trick, the landing goes with the beat of the soundtrack. Nowadays skateboarding videography has gone a long way and most of the recent videos are somewhat a new artform.
At the moment I'm using a Hitachi DZ-MV208E DVD Camera, connected to my PC through USB. I'm using Ulead Media Studio Pro 7 as the editor as this is the only software I could find that could import the clips from the camera. So far I've been experimenting with various things such as transitions and filters and also trying to get the skating to go with the soundtrack. I was told that using cues is how most people do it, but how would I do this in Ulead Media Studio Pro? Could someone please give me a tutorial on how to do this as the method I use (trial and error) is very time consuming.
Regards
Dru.

It's always time consuming, so if you think it isn't then your on the wrong track.
The only way I have been able to do this is by using my copy of Screenblast Acid 4.0. ($99). You import your video into the program and then design the music around the video.
If your trying to do this in your video editor with existing music, I would recommend using Vegas Video. It will help you match up beats with video frames.
Again, don't think this is going to easy. It isn't. You will spend so much time on this project, that you won't ever want to hear the song again as long as you live. -
Well, I downloaded the manual for Ulead Media Studio Pro, and what do you know, it consists of a tutorial on how to synchronise video to audio tracks.
It is actually REALLY easy to do (with Ulead MSP anyway), although everyone here seems to be talking about Vegas. I'll stick with Ulead MSP for the time being as it's the only app I've come across that allows me to capture from my Hitachi DVD Camera.
I'm stuck on something else now.
How do I slow-mo a certain part of a clip? Like, for example, the clip plays normal, then slow-mo's at a certain part, then plays normally again. I know this is possible in other apps, but how to do it in Ulead MSP?
Thanks..
