    Hello,

I have a moive that was in 2 parts, 700Mb each.

I used VirtualDubMod to join them together.

Heres the information about the file,

I then used TMPGEnc to encode it to get it ready for burning to a DVD-R. I used the qizard and selected PAL 16:9

When the encode had finished i used TMPGEnc DVD Author to burn it to a DVD-R

When that completed i tried to play it in my DVD player.

It started playing but seemed to be a little jerky and also there was no sound

Any ideas whats gone wrong ?

    Cheers

  2. Are you by chance going to 25fps pal ?

If so your file is 23.97fps and the "jerks" are making up for the missing frame.

  3. As Hardcoreruss said, your source file has a framerate of 23.976fps. You encoded to PAL format which uses 25fps. TmpGenc has to somehow make up the difference. It does this by repeating approx 1 frame per second. This is what causes the jerky playback.

    OK cheers.

Is there anyway round this ?

Been looking around and people are taking about 3:2 option or something

  5. Does your player support 29.97 fps ?

If so select the 29.97 template in tmpgenc (widescreen or fullscreen depending on your source). Tmpgenc will automatically apply the 3:2 pulldown which you mention.

I would recommend extracting the audio to uncompressed wav first.

This is how I do nearly all of my conversions and I very rarely have a problem.

    Thanks Hardcoreruss

    Will do that

You recommend extracting the audio to uncompressed wav first, is there a guide to do that ?

  7. Open the file in virtual dub.

Set audio to full processing mode

Under file save as uncompressed wav.

When you open tmpgenc use your file as the source for the video and the one you just created in virtual dub as the one for the audio.

There is a more detailed guide on the left, just do a search

The sound is AC5.1 , you can use that on a DVD. Just extract and 'fix' it.

As a side note, you don't need to join the files if your Authoring a DVD.
