I have been trying to preview PDI files without using Daemon tools (it hosed my system when I installed it so I don't want to use it again).

I stumbled on the following procedure to convert a PDI file into "regular" files in a VIDEO_TS folder so that I can preview them in PowerDVD before burning. I haven't seen this procedure using "search", but forgive me if it is already documented, as I am new to this hobby.

    1) create PDI
    2) convert to ISO using PDI2ISO
    3) use WINRAR to unpack VOBS, etc. It automatically created the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders.
    4) Preview the files - I use PowerDVD.

I've only tested this once and it worked. I will try some more. I don't know why it works, but it seems to have solved a problem for me. I hope it helps others.

  3. a PDI file is a file created by the program Instantcopy. It is used to split a DVD image into multiple files (of about 1 GB each). you may want to convert these files into one iso image, if you have problems with burning with instantcopy, that's why you use pdi2iso.

  5. Or just use DVDdecrypter 3.1.9.0, that version added support for pdi files.
I'm using instantcopy, and had probs burning with directly with it. DVDdecrypter has been burning pdi's great, no coasters.
