They'll never win - people should have the right to backup! In my case, I'm not going to take all my DVDs to uni with me in case they are stolen, and neither do I want to have to pay to insure them.
It looks to me like they'd very much like to use the legal system to crush the freedoms of their customers, so they can carry on charging whatever they want. It's not going to happen.
It's not a good idea to piss off your customers. Does that not occur to the music and movie industry?

when the dual layer burners become mainstream there will be no money to be made from copying dvd's.. rip with dvddecrypter, burn with dvd decrypter... the software is small, free, and very good..
