  1. I was recording a TV show (with AverMedia TVPhone9 and suddenly my computer crashed so I had to restart it. I got an avi file but WM Player was not able to play it.
Is there any way to recover the file so it can be viewed?
    Thanks.

  2. depends, try this
open the AVI file in virtualdub

if it works, use the popup open to rederive keyframes, will take a while though.

if virtualdub doesnt open it, I don't know what will.

How long was the TV program. I suspect that the files may be too big. If the AVi file is bigger than 2 gb, it's the limit under Windows. I did the same thing, and capture the files too big, and I wasn't able to recover the file. I was only able to capture 50 -55 minutes of AVI files before it reached the 2 gb limit. May be someone out there can show us how to recover the file if it goes over 2gb.

  4. In fact the file was quite small because it crashed at the very beginning of the show, just 5 MB.
I already tried to open it with vdub but it didnīt work, it says "cannot determine file type"
