  1. According to the dvd list on this site
the xwave LB900 can read xsvcd.
But i've tried almost every setting in TMPGenc
and it wont read my SXVCD
    PAL-NTSC
    SVCD-MPEGAV
    Interlace - deinterlace
    253*288 - 480*480

(i'm not intrested in making xvcd
because it can not do the overlay subs
All my vcd (all layers) works fine )
But the worst thing is that
all the sxvcd i burned works
    on my friends mustek player

Any ideas ? Do i need to look for a new firmware ?

  2. I've tried DAO - SOA - TAO (with the vcdhelp samples !!!)
    Nothing works
You have players playing SVCD without they mention in the manual.
And you have players having SVCD printed on their front and
NOT playing SVCD at all !!!
I dont know updated the playerslist but the specs for LB900
    are wrong

  3. Labway CAN play XSVCD's, i wrote a review about Labway 900 and 1000 and BOTH types played about 30+ test disks. Therefore it CAN play XSVCD. Only problem is, that i cannot play YOUR XSVCD. Therefore you made something wrong.

Resolutions: 480x576, 352x576, MPEG-2, bitrates up to 4000 kb/s. For NTSC of course correct resolutions.

New firmware does not make any difference, it makes whole thing less shitty. XWAVE is low end piece of shit, equipped with cheap ESS MPEG decoder (macroblocks visible on big areas of the same color, specially brown or yellow). Play movie "Tarzan" from Disney and look at there gorillas

Specs for LB900 are correct. It CAN play SVCDs and XSVCD, May I send you some photos, where you can see SVCD playing on labway ?

There are some mistakes when authoring, and this is not fault of Labway. Try DVD2SVCD proggie for authoring and then burn BIN images with nero (Mode 2 RAW of course)

    1. start Nero- choose SVCD
    2. load your MPG file
    3. burn it

It MUST work, because it work for hundreds of others. Maybe you must try different CD burner.

  4. there's nothing wrong with my burner
because it do play the VCD i burn.
And i told you the sxvcd i ve burned plays
fine on mustek , pioneer ,tokai, philips , hitatchi and neufunk , EXCEPT LB900
    I ll try your resolutions
maybe LB is very picky with resolutions

    Thanks for help

  5. PS your right with the LB900 player

to load a cd and goto's seems to take forever.
    Not worth having it

  6. try this trick: remove DVD drive from LB and use normal PC DVD-ROM drive. Then try to play SVCD.

Our test Labways can eat only SVCDs with resolutions 352x576 and 480x576 PAL. With 352x288 is only black picture.

Sooner or later, every Labway user find that it is crap. look at my review - you can see what is inside.

i translate these +- on the end to english (if yopu cannot understand czech)
    + cheap
+ can play CDRand RW (vcd, svcd, xsvcd....)
+ firmware upgrade (using supplied CD with new firmware)
    + region free

    - bad picture quality (macroblocks), cheap ESS chipset
    - sometimes it freezes when playing (disconnection from power source help)
    - sometimes the timer go backwards (from the end to beginning) (very funny)
    - some errors when playing about 30% tested disks
