This audio fix i read about on the dsclaer forum. I forgot all about it until my recent clean install, figured i'd post what i did to get it working.

Audio working on windows XP / stb tv & fm tuner card and dscaler.

First you need a SPECIFIC version of the WDM video adquisition Driver

Second a copy of Dscaler (my favorite TV tuner application)

get your hands on file " btwdmdrvinstaller5.3.2.zip " this is a old version!

(i could not find it on the sourceforge's website, so try a search engine)

get dscaler 4.1.8 some older versions should work too.

step 1

Run the WDM 5.3.2 install program, you may want to choose the remove old stuff option first and reboot. Cancel all windows install popups upon reboot.

hit the install button, and use the suggested settings of Q32 from the faq. The faqs is right there if you need to refer to it just click it.

"
CARD -- STB2
Tuner -- Philips 1236 input 2
and then for the chips (this options are under the "advanced" button at this page of the installer)

TDA 9850 set to "Yes" , 12c address 0xb6, (also try 0xb4 if audio does not work)
TEA 6420 set to "Yes" 12c address 0x98
TDA 7432 set to "Yes" 12c address 0xff (the driver will autodetect it)
All the other chips can be left in "Auto" mode, or perhaps you prefer to set them to "No" Go on and install the driver... Audio should work now! "

I have also used other stb setting with good results.

Tweaked advanced setting may not even be needed, but i use them with success.

Radio option should not matter but who knows, turn it off to be sure during testing.

xp should say these are unverified drivers blah blah click yes

Reinstalling and changing settings without complete removal should be ok.

step 2

Install Dscaler use the same options for drivers above, the stb2 and phillips 1236 2input tuner.

Mixer source setup, i click use systems mixer and chose aux as the mixer line and also
click the original states box at the very bottom this will mute the tuner
when you shutdown dscaler.
(if unsure just unclick the topmost box, you should still get audio but you might get tuner audio constantly. You'll have to manually mute when not using dscaler)

start dscaler select stb2 from sources menu then choose define as initial source.

use the auto tune for channel setup.

If all went well u should now have audio as well as video, if not...

is any thing muted in your windows audio mixer settings?
did you use the 5.3.2 version of wdm drivers?
is Dscaler's audio input set to Tuner?
did you close and restart Dscaler?
did you try a Reboot?
did you try different WDM settings?

I have also used the WDM removal option after the setups, and I still get audio!!!

good luck!
