  1. hi ive just reteurned from looking at afriends computer, the problem was he couldn't get on the internet , after running a proggy or two he was back up and running , but after taking a look at his modem settings i noticed he had a shortcut to networking on his desktop (strange cause his is the only one in the house ) so i had alook and it listed his modem as a second connection along side another modem which had been crossed out and stating a cable had been dissconected and of course stating the two different IPs.He says he didn't do the networking nor any of his family , so was he hacked ( his registry was full of all sorts of crap that shouldn't of been there which spybot rooted out ), also can anyone tell how to get rid of this network connection as the uninstall only worked partially, hes running xp pro and connected via ntl broadband , and also what somebody has to gain from making a network to a home pc that by any standard is quiet ordinary in every way.....thanks
Eh!.......don't know why it's doing that, it worked perfectly well on my system !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I don't know how to shut down those connections, but he really should have taken steps to protect himself.

I always have up-to-date virus software (NAV 2003, Bloodhound @ max), keep Windows updated and run a firewall.

  3. absolutley cobra, i've already installed zonealarm, spybot and an un mentionable 2004 anti-virus software :wink after having a look at his pc: , but to be truthfull he's not a computer buff and barely touches his system, more often than not its his two teenage daughters at the helm. My knowledge is fair but by no means great, but within our group of friends i seem to be the one with a bit more knowledge than the next man so regarding as to uninstalling a network connection im lost and would appreciate any help on the subject.....as to why he was hacked ( if he was Hacked, but the girls deny touching the networking program, and to be fair i believe them ...after all his own modem was listed as the secondary connection ) im at a complete lose, why bother with a home pc what could it possibly have to offer..... cobra, anybody i'm listening
