    i installed xp on my d partition when i wanted it on C, i installed it on c now ho do i get the xp of the d partition?

    As long as you aren't booting from it, just erase the data there. You can go to 'Folder Options' and set hidden files to be visible, so you can get it all. You could also reformat it, but that shouldn't be necessary.

    i could do that but when i start up it would ask me to choose, there is more then just the files, there are registry values and such.

    registry values are not carried over to multiple installs of XP.
    What you are seeing is the boot.ini file. Just delete the line that refers to the OS that you removed
