ive looked everywhere, but still cant find the answer..im such a dopey girl!!!
i have 2 DVDs that I want to put on a single DVDr, BUT COMPLETE each one with their corresponding menus (both are very short so, length is no problem)... maybe I'm going to need an "extra" new menu at the very beginining of the "new" DVDr (just a couple of graphic images that "link" to each one of the original DVD menus...) ...
any help on the best way to do this would be greatly apreciated....

1. rip both dvds with DVD Decrypter into their own folders on your HDD.
2. bring both ripped dvds into TMPGEnc DVD Author and create your menus and chapter points (scene selection).
3. open TMPGEnc DVD Author's output in DVD Shrink v3.12 or higher. if you want to use v3.0b5 instead you will have to open TMPGEnc DVD Author's output in v2.3 first, UNCOMPRESSED backup, and then its output into 3.0b5 (at least that has been my experience).
4. compress if needed, and backup, then burn.
5. good luck -
thanks 4 that noki. but being the dopey girl that i am.........
just one more question...will this method allow me to keep the menus that are already on the dvds??? i dont want to create any menus other than the one that allows me to choose either dvd1 and dvd2....
so......when i put my new dvd in, it should give me an option dvd1 or dvd2. then when i select dvd1, id like it to produce all the menus on the dvd(extras, scene selection, subtitles etc)...same for dvd2....
any help on this is much appreciated
thanks. -
Look at DVD-Lab.
What you can do is use DVD Shrink to get the originals down to the proper size, then using DVD-Lab 1.4.1 beta 1, import the VOBs. You'll have to use the VMG section.
There is a tutorial on the DVD-Lab website for putting multiple VTS into one project, use that. -
Keeping the original menus when authoring two DVDs to one is rarely possible.
The menus themselves need to be in VTS_01_0.VOB and the instructions musn't reference the VMG.
Heres a way of testing your VTS for commands that lead to the VMG.- Move these files to a Safe directory:
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VIDEO_TS.IFO
Open DVDFab and "Create a Video Manager" (VIDEO_TS.IFO)
Play with your favorite player.
If the menu works and the film plays alright you've won!

I have half way accomplished this but am puzzled.
I did 2 different tests. The first DVD has 'Rugrats Go wild' and 'Uptown Girls'.
Rugrats Go Wild was a DVD Shrink creation with Menus only. (Video manager created with DVD Fab-Noki guide).
Uptown Girls' is a DVD to VCD Mpeg1 with the audio re-encoded to 48,000Hz, and then authored with Tmpgenc DVD Author+ menu.
I put both movies in the same directory. I deleted the the Video_ts.bup and Video_ts.ifo created for Rugrats by DVD Fab. Rugrats was my Vts_01_0.xxx. Uptown Girls I renamed Vts_02_0.xxx. So now both named 1 and 2 and used DVDFab to make Video Manager.
Both Menu's work perfectly on standalone player using remote to switch between title sets.
On my second attempt I did same method, American Legends toon with DVD Shrink (same as before) and Seabiscuit with Tmpgenc DVD Author (same as before). This time Seabiscuit- the Tmpgenc creation movie+ menu works but not the American Legends- DVD Shrink creation, movie and menu neither one work on the standalone DVD player but will work on the computer- menus and all.
Basically 2 questions:
1) Did I just get lucky that the first one worked completely?
2) Why won't the 2nd one work on the standalone but will on the computer? In your ear with a can of beer, Up your nose with a rubber hose.

Did you first make a VIDEO_TS.IFO for each film on its own ?
thats the test - if that works THENyou can put them together.... -
So if I understand you correctly I have to create a video manager for each movie seperately and burn to a disk to try in a DVD player to test befor I can compile to 1 DVD? That defeats the whole purpose. Is this the only way to test if it works- before I waste a disk?

The point is that some navigation programming uses the VMG which is in the original VIDEO_TS.IFO
If you make a new one and it still works then you're ok.
Use a DVD-RW for the test in your Standalone, also try with IfoEdits Player and "Marks TrayDVDPlayer"..... -
Thanks for the knowledge. I guess everything doesn't work every time. I haven't tested a RW in my player so I don't know if will read it at all. I'll try tonight.
