  1. i was wondering how to transfer data from my desk top to my laptop, both are running windows xp os. please let me know

  2. Depends on how much data you want to transfer over. You could just use a DVDRW to burn the data that you want from one to the other. USB hardrive is how I do it.

    or if they both have 10/100 ports, you could buy a crossover cable.

    Buy a crossover cable and plug it into the NIC on both your desktop and your laptop. Then you open up Windows help and look up sharing files and follow the directions listed there. Or if both computers have FireWire you could connect them with a FireWire cable and network that way as well.

    Not quite that much, but most folks I know that have FireWire at all on their computers have a cable or two lying around. They usually come with the cards these days.

    if you go to www.newegg.com they have firewire cables for under 10 bucks. just go to the cables section and look under the "generic" brand
