  1. Ok i always used dvd shrink 1.03 and now it doesn't work anymore, the movies always skip about 30 to 50 minutes in. I'm really sure that its the dvd shrink killing my movies because as i've said in another post that my brother uses the exact same method i do to burn movies and the only difference is that he uses dvd shrink 3.05 beta and he just rips the movie alone and no menues or extras. I always try to backup the entire dvd because i want it to be exactly the same as the real deal. So i tried using newer dvd shrink and it doesn't even copy the extras and menus it just plays the root menu as a picture and then goes to the movie. And these dvds work perfect in the xbox to add. I'm really tired of messing around with this, SO I'M ASKING IF ANYBODY CAN HELP ME OR SHOULD I JUST RIP THE MOVIE ONLY????????????

It sounds like it may be the program your burning with or even the DVD player your using. How are you burning?
Download Elby CloneDVD,there's a 30 day free trial, and use it in place of DVD Shrink.

Wow....someone else blaming software....FREE software to boot. I just DO NOT understand how someone can come on here and spout out nonsense about software that is as revolutionary as DVDShrink....blaming IT for their bad end-result.
You should be counting your blessings that we are able to do what we do.....especially with FREE and AWESOME software like DVDShrink.
THINK before you post next time. DVDShrink is first in the line of processes that are required to make a backup of your DVD.

  7. Hi all.
So i tried using newer dvd shrink and it doesn't even copy the extras and menus it just plays the root menu as a picture and then goes to the movie.
Because you're using the Re-author mode which doesn't allow for backing up functionning menus.

As this is a common mistake, the latest beta now include a warning that message appears when you drag menu titles to the "DVD" window (in Re-author mode).

  9. vi0lentjuggal0, "Backup!" is not a mode.

    Please check the following guides.

  10. well i guess i said that wrong what i meant was that i choose the disc then i don't compress it because its pretty small and then i pick backup then i drag the file that is made into my power dvd player and it just plays each video and the menu as a picture.

  11. vi0lentjuggal0, have you tried playing the whole DVD ("Play DVD from folder" in WinDVD), instead of playing the files separately?

Thats not DVDShirnk buddy, that sounds like either a problem burner or MOST LIKELY cheap media. I don't care if you do know somone that uses it... if its something we say it cheap we are saying that for a reason based on results of MANY people.

i do, i drag the folder into the dvd player, also i don't believe that it can be the brand of disc because it seems to far fetched and memorex is not a bad brand. nobody has had this problem?

  14. vi0lentjuggal0, I can only suggest you try DVD Shrink latest beta and see if it fixes your problem.

Which memorex? If its ricoh memorex your fine... if its not well I got bad news. Memorex isn't that good of a brand. I deal with Computers with DVD burners all the time. Often I have to suggest different media to people using Memorex disc, they usually don't call back when I suggest TDK or Maxell.

Ever wonder why memorex is on sale all the time?

Memorex are garbage but I don't believe those crappers are your problem.
If the disc is small enough to NOT require shrinking...why use DVDShrink at all. Try DVDDEcrypter 's ISO READ then ISO WRITE modes. DVDDecrypter is just as free as DVDShrink.

  17. ok i'm gonna try doing it with dvd decrypter i've never really used it because dvd shrink is just easier to use. And what makes crappy media so crappy?

It must be bad. It works great for thousands of us and you have a problem... couldn't be anything else but the software...

  19. BobK, I believe vi0lentjuggal0 meant to write "I'm not saying its bad software...", as it'd make more sense with the rest of the sentence.

As a suggestion, assuming you have the space needed on your computer .......

Do what I always do if using DVDShrink :

Rip the entire DVD first using DVDDecrypter
Run DVDShrink on the ripped files

Can't remember where, but I read that DVDShrink sometimes has a problem with some copy protection direct from DVD

Maybe my method is slower, but I've yet to come across any problem

If I'm doing a DVD, I use DVDShrink for the entire disk (menus, extras, everything), or DVD2One for just the movie, but I shove 2 movies onto a disk

Can't comment on the media though, I now use Ritek's G04's. I had various problems with stuttering/skipping/pausing/freezing when using my previous media (Mirror Platinum) especially near the edge of the DVD

Changed to Ritek's, no problems since, even when I deliberately burnt really, really close to the edge of the media to see what would happen
