  1. Just wondering if anyone out there - anywhere!! - has actually managed to record at 8x speed on this drive??? I have Nero 6.3.0.0 (the very latest version) and am unable to record faster than 4x.
I used Infiniti 8x media, whose media code said it was in fact 4x and a variety of Ritek media - all to no avail. If you have managed to record at 8x speed - please let me know - and more importantly, what media/software was used.
I, and all the other weeping 107 owners, thank you!

No it means there are no 8x media avialable yet when the 8x media comes out the 107 should burn at 8x if you cant wait that long the firmware hack group might come out with a hacked firmware for the 107 so you can burn 8x on 4x media.

but then you got to think if you burn at 8x on media that has a maximum burn of 4x then how reliable is the disk going to be.

Thanks for the response TurboRunner. I have used Infiniti 8 speed +R discs (.RICOHJPNR01.8 #T7..<g..b in 'media code block')with Nero 6.3.0.3
The highest speed i get is 4x.
As there is already 8 speed media arou nd, why can't the Pioneer write to it? Is it just my set up or everyone's?

Im not sure i only own the 106 but maybe if you keep an eye on the pioneer site for a new firmware upgrade for the 107 maybe that might fix it or try a different burning software but it will probably be firmware related

Hope that helps maybe somebody else who actually owns the 107 can come forward and say that s/he can burn at 8x and what firmware, Media and burning software s/he uses.
