  1. I have a dvd rw, that plays fine on the puter, sometimes plays fine on the standalone dvd player, sometimes ya gotta trick it into playing it. I want to play it on my ps2, but it now sez unable to read disc.

I took a bunch of videos, and re-encoded them, so i could burn them as a dvd. I had it last night, but it was kinda jerky, so i figured i should try an burn it at a lower speed. this time i used nero to burn, i was using the tmpgenc authoring program to burn it.

    now to the point.

I try to use dvd decrypter to get it on my HD, but it gets so far, then gets errors, unreadable sectors, after i click ignore all, it gets too many and freezes.

I tried to use dvd shrink to open it, and got an error, wouldnt let me re-author it either.

    so what can i do?

  2. The firmware on most of those systems is, in OEM-form, incapable of of reading the DVD-RW media, purposely. They can sell more games that way. Sometimes the firmware in the DVD-Drive itself won't allow it.

Did you patch the firmware? (MOD-chip)

Sound like there may be something corrupt in your file also.

  4. You'll have to waste a disc to find out, but you have the best chance of making it work with a DVD-R disc, not DVD-RW.

Also you first need a PC able to read it. At this point we don't know if the drive doesn't like the media, or there is something gone wrong with the data on it. Do you have a friend with a different brand drive?

It sounds like your stand alone player might just be dealing with the errors alot better.

  5. hi,

i had the same trouble with dvd decrypter and found that i needed to clean my cd drive with a cleaner....if you have 2 drives use the othr and see how you get on.

and you dont need a modchip in a playstation 2 to play copied dvds....ive made shed loads and they all work fine on the station.

    goodluck

  7. Have i been trying to answer a question that you never asked? Your point is that your Re-Author software can't handle the data on disc.

    Sorry!

Was the disc made with the new drive? I remember when my ZIP drive went bad (the head came out of alignment), the discs could only be read the drive that created them.

Also when certain CD's became difficult to read, i found that if i put a Stick-On-Label on top the disc was alot easier to read. (I could hold the disc up to the light and see pinholes)
