Which place do you suppose will have the better selection and price? I can't seem to decide if Best Buy really does have the best buy on projection televisions.

  2. you would probably be better suited researching what you want from a tv.. find one that best suits what you want & can afford, and then search for the best price on that tv.

95% of the peope at the major electronics retailers dont know their ******* from an s-video jack.

  3. Can you tell the difference?

Personally, I'd go to Best Buy...

I would not go to any of those places. They all sell the low end model tvs at too high of prices. Do some research and find the tv you want and then go to the stores for the tv. I would suggest magnolia hi-fi for the best selection of quality.

  5. I've heard good things about Magnolia.

I got all my shnitz at Ultimate Electronics (aka Audio King and SoundTrack) and have never been disappointed. High-end shnitzola, fair prices, and salespeople who knew what they were talking about.

(I was merely selecting between the three choices presented. Normally, unless it's a speciality item, I just do the crutchfield.com thing.)

Yeah I like online shopping just as much as the next guy but I don't know about that for such a large purchase.

  7. Are you close enough to an Audio King to check them out?

Last I heard they had been purchased by Ultimate Electronics/SoundTrack and were being retrofitted for audio and video.

The last time I was there Ultimate had something like 30 plasma TVs and at least the same amount of projection televisions on display. Everything from conventional CRT to Hi-Def DLP.

There's another regional retailer out in that part of the world like Audio King, but I can't remember their name...

Don't know if there is an audio king around. If there is it's prolly in Columbus but I'll just have to do some searching. I've got a couple of months before I start to really get serious about TV shopping. Thanks for you replies...very helpful as always!

I bought my last TV from Amazon.com. I could not obtain it locally and they had a free shipping thing going on. The UPS person brought it right to my door and I happened to be home at the time (thankfully).

I just changed a DVD player from composite out to s-video out to the TV.

This made the difference on the picture as so much better without the interference of macrovision as seen before on the TV.

I can still use the composite out of that same DVD player at the same time for another TV with composite jacks only as input AV.
I am a computer and movie addict
