biggest frustration i have when i rent a DVD movie is when it starts to go all blocky and pixelated.

what is the procedure at your video store, do they give you a free credit or money back or same movie again .

I've had many discussions with video stores that wont give you anything for the inconveniance, one saying that if you get to the end of the movie then i dont deserve a credit even though i had to miss a chapter to get to the end.

giving me a different copy of the same movie is no good either i may have gone 3 quarters of the way though the movie.

it happens so regular with me now that i dont even bother if its a weekly movie.

i have even thought about getting out the vhs copy just to get through some movies.

  3. maybe you should try copying the disc.. because i'm pretty sure your dvd-rom or dvd burner would have a stronger laser than most dvd players.. better able to read through the errors..

of course you must destroy the backup after you view the movie.. maybe you should put it on a RW dvd.. 8)

Here as well. I know how people treat dvd's and it sickens me, but if I can get the same movie and try again well then thats about the best you can do. And if that dont work, Ill take another in exchange. But I have to say this, I have yet to find a rental dvd that dont play in any of my dvd players. (knock on wood)
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

depends on the store i guess

at family video here i will usually get the same movie again and another movie or game free. just last week i had a problem and they told me to grab another copy of the movie and a something free for my troubles..they didnt have it so i ended up getting 2 different movies for free and they fixed the movie there on the cleaner and i got it for free...great service there, i love it when something dosnt work now..

used to happen to me every other week and bloody annoying it is to and then my local blockbusters started issuing their dvd's in plastic sleeves within the dvd case and i ain't had a bad one since(touch wood)
can't really see how this helps because they are still being handled by the morons who don't care - but it seemed to do the trick

The most annoying with rented DVDs is fingermarks on the disk and I have to clean it with a cloth. I don't get any money back for this.

I have returned at least 8 DVDs during the past year of defects on purchases. They range from a hole, the scratch and a corrupted disk.
