I really prefer Sam Adams or Bass, but I'm getting fat.
Now I drink Michelob Ultra most of the time -
Guinness or India Pale Ale or Half and Half (sometimes known as a Black & Tan)
A Guide For The Un-Initated To
Buying Guinness In An Irish Pub
1 Choose your pub carefully. A pint of Guinness does not appreciate loud music, loud people or bright flashing lights.
2 Ask politely for a pint of Guinness. Depending on the pub, it is possible to catch the barmans eye and mouth the word "pint", he will translate this accurately.
3 The barman will fill the glass between 70% and 80% capacity. It will then be put to the side for a few moments to allow it "to settle". Once the brownish liquid has almost turned to a solid black the barman will then fill the rest of the glass. NB: do not under any circumstances take the glass before it is filled. Some virgins seem to think that the settling stage is the final stage and walk away with an unfinished pint. At this point we Irish DO understand the predicament, but I assure you it causes endless mirth as well.
4 Once you have received your pint, find a comfortable stool or seat, gaze with awe into the deep blackness, raise the pint to your mouth and take a large mouthful. Be firm.
5 A good pint can distinguished by a number of methods. A smooth, slightly off- white head is one, another is the residue left on the inside of the glass. These, surpise surprise, are known as rings. As long as they are there you know your're okay. A science of rings is developing - the instance that comes to mind is determining a persons nationality by the number of rings (a ring is dependent on a swig of Guinness each swig leaving it's own ring). An Irishman will have in the region of 5-6 rings (we pace ourselves), an Englishman will have 8-10 rings, an American will have 17-20 (they sip) and an Australian won't have any at all as they tend to knock it back in one go!
6 As you near the end of your pint, it is the custom to order another one. It is a well known fact that a bird does not fly on one wing.

Beer's crap, well the least preferred of my alcoholic beverages.
If I had to choose I would go a lager (Crown Sterling) or a "Near" (we call them light beer over here), probably a Hahn Premium Light Ice. -
After last night I want to be able to vote for NO BEER EVER AGAIN.
But I know that will change soon. Remember, no one likes a quitter.
As for "Near Beer"......there was actually a soda pop called that about 10-15 years ago. It was sold in the soda shelves and you didnt need to be of age to drink it. There was no alcohol in it.......it only tasted like beer. But man that was the shittiest soda pop I have ever had....I remember it giving everyone headaches right away. No wonder it didnt last long.
HAHAHAH........I just realized it gave you the taste of beer and gave you the feeling of the Hangover. NO BUZZ.......what a horrible horrible product. Maybe they were trying to get kids to get it in their heads early on that beer is bad and only gives you headaches. But more than likely it was just a shitty product

Anyway, since it's come up, I like Pilsner - having visited the home of Pilsner beer: Plzen, Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia). The Pilsner Urquell brewery there rivals anything I've seen in this country for quality and cleanliness. Well, maybe better even, I remember visiting the Busch Brewery in Tampa when I lived there as a kid, we'd go all the time (my dad loved free beer samples) and I vividly remember seeing flies in the hops and barley bins they used (seen on the tour of the brewery). This was in the early 60's, even before they built Busch Gardens as a recreational park, all they had at the time was a trained parrot show, and the brewery tour - but it was all free, even the parking. Ah, the good old days.
Anyway, the Pilsner Urquell brewery has a pub and restaurant that's great, and the beer is dirt cheap. You can buy a liter-sized mug for the equivalent of 30 cents US (at least when I was there several yrs ago), and it's tempting to just sit and drink all day and night. And you go on down the road to Praha (Prague) and find pubs aplenty, and if you weren't an alcoholic before you arrived, it's easy to become one! Lots of good cheap beer in Praha, "Staropramen", "Branik", and others - that you can buy for pennies, literally. I love visiting CZ...wonder why?Ethernet (n): something used to catch the etherbunny -
Fosters or Corona in the Uk. Just got back from hols in Oz where it was either tooheys, vb or that gorgeous crown lager !!!.

Where's black & tan? I had to vote "ale", since I think that's what Sam Adams cherry wheat is, but usually I drink a black & tan.
-
That is a strange drink that black and tan, I worked in a pub for over three years and only ever sold about ten of them (all to the same bloke).

Cheapest beer I will drink is Leinenkugels. Usually I'm a Guiness or Newcastle drinker, sometimes both at the same time. Now compare American Guiness drinkers to English Guiness drinkers. More fat slobs over here than across the pond, so it must not be the beer -

Would drink Heinekin, but prefer dry white wine or Southern Comfort!
