One of my friends asked me to reinstall windows on her laptop. Right now she got Windows 98 on it and she wants me to install Windows Xp pro.

I installed windows on pcs a million times. I don't have a laptop myself and I don't know are there any things I should keep in mind when reinstalling it on a laptop? How do I go about installing drivers? and where do I find them?

    It's a Sager brand pc.
    1ghz
    256mb ram
    20gb hd

I am here looking in the device manager and there is sh*t here I never seen before.
Ex: video card is SIS 630. Would I have to dl a driver from the internet or would the Windows driver work fine for that?

  2. Here is a link to the support page for that notebook http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/tech_support.html but you need the model number to find out what drivers are available. I noticed the page said not all their products are compatible with XP, so I'd research available drivers before I installed.

    Good luck.

Thanks bottle-necked. I got another question. It doesn't say anywhere on the laptop what model it is. All it says that it is an NP SERIES. Is there a way to check it out in windows?

  4. Haha.... Everyone one of them on that support page are NP series.

It should be marked on the outside of the case. Look on the bottom at the stickers or for a book or manual. My HP laptop has it wrote all over it.

I don't know where it would be in Windows except maybe in Device Manager. <Right click MY Computer - choose Properties>{General Tab}.

    Good luck.
