Read Error - Can you help?

I am using a Liteon DVD combo drive as source and LG DVD burner as destination to burn DVDs I made myself with Ulead Movie Factory.

Each time I try to copy these I get a Read Error at about 90%.

I know it is not the media as I can make a copy just using the burner as the read/write drive.

I updated the Liteon firmware but still have the Read Error.

I bet it is the media - your recorder will probably find it easier to read recordable media that's borderline than a ROM drive. I also bet the drive reads other discs OK...

Why not just use the recorder to copy the disc onto your hard drive ?

I did buy a spool of no-name DVDs, but they recorded okay when making them up with Ulead Movie Factory.

I guess I will pick up some band name and see if the Liteon will read them.

I could use the burner for read/write but using the two drives does not require hanging around to swap CDs. Also it bugs me when something on the computer doesn't work right

Yeah, well recording to a disc is only half the story. You usually get coasters when you find the damn things won't play back in the target device.

I've got a Lite-on (165) and it reads anything so long as the media isn't faulty, in which case there is sod all you can do about that apart from take them back and demand replacements / refunds.
